I grew up in a hard working family and have always been told that as hard as I work is as much as I can make of myself in this world. My dad, Dave, owns a construction company and my mom, Pam, is a teacher. I remember my mom staying up late to work on lesson plans. She always went the extra mile for her students. Their work ethic is why I own a small business today and am passionate about providing good paying jobs with benefits.
But, my mom is relying on her teacher pension that does not allow her to take social security and my dad has been saving in a 401k for a long time. Both of my parents will be on a fixed income soon. It is very important that we protect retirees--our parents and grandparents--in Illinois, as well as anyone else on a fixed incomes.
I have several thoughts and ideas that are important and will mirror how I vote as your legislator.
- I oppose taxing retirement income. Pensions, retirement accounts and social security should not be taxed. I will oppose any legislation to tax retirement income.
- I oppose diminishing or rolling back on home care services and will fight to make sure we fund home care services here in Illinois.
- I support tax credits for retirees without children in their home that are living on a fixed income to offset the burden of their property taxes.

Learn more about what Bruce Rauner vetoing the home care services did to home care services. I will be your fighter making sure we fund home care and treat retirees with dignity.
As your next state rep in the 17th I will continue fighting for all our families to thrive here in Illinois.
